PagePal (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes what information PagePal collects when you use the PagePal Chrome extension, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information.
When you ask a question in PagePal, we capture the URL of the active browser tab. This URL is sent—over HTTPS—to our Q&A backend to provide context for generating an answer.
We collect the text of the question you type into the PagePal popup. This question text is also sent to our backend service to generate a relevant response.
During your browsing session, PagePal stores the pairs of questions and answers in your browser’s local storage only. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted or stored on our servers beyond the single request/response cycle.
Answer Generation:
We send the current page URL and your question to our AI-powered Q&A service (hosted on Google Cloud Run). The service uses Google Generative AI or Ollama to generate an answer, which is returned to PagePal and displayed in the popup.
Local Storage:
Your chat history (questions & answers) is stored locally so you can scroll back through the conversation during the same browser session.
Clearing History:
Closing the popup or disabling/removing the extension will clear your local chat history.
Opting Out:
If you do not wish to share the current page URL or your question with our backend, simply do not click “Send.” You can disable or remove PagePal at any time via Chrome’s Extensions page.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Last updated date at the top. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
